| From June 14 to 16, 2010, pianist and presenter Alain Lefèvre will give lectures at the JMC House to students from underprivileged schools on the Island of Montreal. Truly a man on a mission, Alain Lefèvre has for many years devoted himself to cultivating children’s appreciation for classical music. In fact, when he is not on stage, he frequently voluntarily makes his way into schools to help students discover the beauty and subtleties of concert music. The exact time of each lecture will be announced at a later date. Visit Alain Lefèvre's web site |
The Cecilia String Quartet in residence at JMC
Considered to be one of the finest young chamber ensembles in Canada, and made up of violinists Sara Nematallah and Min-Jeong Koh, violist Caitlin Boly, and cellist Rebecca Wenham, the Cecilia String Quartet will split its residence between the JMC House and the Schulich School of Music at McGill University over a two-year period. On the schedule at JMC are concerts presented as part of the Montreal “La musique sur un plateau” series, as well as other recitals that will be offered to JMC Centres and presenters across the country. JMC thereby hopes to support the career development of the members of this ensemble. Several other projects will also be a part of this initiative: work with a stage director, production of a promotional DVD/CD and print material, etc.
JMC artists in health care establishments
Throughout the 2009-2010 season, JMC artists will be giving concerts in various health care establishments in Montreal. A wonderful initiative of the Société pour les arts en milieux de santé (SAMS), these recitals will be presented to patients in several of the city’s long-term care facilities. JMC is proud to be associated with the SAMS and to be contributing to breaking the isolation of patients by enriching their living environments with music.
