Instrument: Pianist
Antoine Joubert began to teach himself piano around the age of 13, exploring writing for piano in his compositions. His decision to become a classical performer became clear when he received the Bruno Bios Award for the best final exam at the Bachelor level at the Université de Laval (Quebec), where he also completed a Bachelor’s degree in composition. He has received several awards, such as the Second Prize at the SOCAN Foundation’s Young Composers Competition (Toronto) for his composition Scordatura for solo cello in 2005, and the Claire-Charbonneau-Clerk Award for piano at the Prix d’Europe in 2009. Having fast-tracked through his Master’s degree, Antoine Joubert is completing his doctoral studies with pianist Dang Thai Son in 2011. Deeply interested in research and teaching, he also organizes and directs concerts, and performs as a soloist and collaborative pianist on national and international stages.
