Montreal International Musical Competition

The Montreal International Musical Competition includes three disciplines - voice, violin and piano. It is open to young singers, violinists and pianists from around the world who intend to pursue a professional career in music. The next editions of the Competition will be dedicated to violin in 2010 and to piano in 2011.

The Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC) was founded in 2002 at the initiative of the Jeunesses Musicales of Canada . From its very first edition, dedicated to voice, the Competition has succeeded in bringing together the ideal conditions to ensure the highest possible level of artistry and an international reach as broad as it is exceptional. Whether one looks at the international calibre of its jury members, the substantial prizewinnings and engagements it offers its laureates, or the enviable artistic partnerships it has forged, clearly no effort has been spared to ensure the Competition's rapid ascension to the highest rank of excellence.

Today, the MIMC has emerged as one of our country's great artistic achievements. The establishment of such a high-level competition in Canada makes a clear statement about our country's rich cultural life and ability to host an international event of this magnitude.

Since its inception, the Competition has not only provided a spotlight for the world's most promising young talent in the leading musical performance networks, it has also served to showcase the intensity of our artistic life, the vitality of our musical institutions and the values of our governments and corporations that support this initiative.
