Jeunesses Musicales New Brunswick

Jeunesses Musicales New Brunswick (JMNB) is a provincial corporation that existed since 1996. The province of New Brunswick has always played an active role within the movement. Actually we found eight JMC centres located throughout the province : Edmundston, with over twenty-five years of history, Dalhousie, which celebrates its fifteenth anniversary in 2006, Fredericton, Dieppe, Kent and its region, the Acadian Peninsula, Bathurst, and the youngest of all, Miramich, founded in 2008. Once in a while other towns, like St John and Sackville, receive concerts à la carte.

The work of the centres are supported by hundred of volunteers. Altogether, 36 concerts, as part of the Desjardins Series, are presented each year in different locations within the province reaching English and French audiences of more than five thousand people.

Affiliated with Jeunesses Musicales Canada, the largest producer of classical music in the country, the main objectives of Jeunesses Musicales New Brunswick are promoting the development of music by cultivating an interest in music among young people and fostering the careers of outstanding young Canadian instrumentalist, singers and composers.

Since the foundation of Jeunesses Musicales Canada in 1949, artists from New Brunswick have played a leading role within the organization. Over the last 50 years, many have taken part in tours to various JMC Centres. By presenting artists such as the late Arthur LeBlanc, Rosemarie Landry, Richard Raymond, Roger Lord, Amérythme, le Quatuor Arthur-LeBlanc, Michèle Losier, Chantal Dionne, Nathalie Paulin and Jasper Wood, JMC have helped to make these talented New Brunswick natives better known in Canada and abroad.
